What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health.

Essential Oils are a simple, powerful and versatile way to eradicate chemicals out of your life.

Reclaim your natural state: Vibrant Health

“There has never been a more important time in human history to take control of your own health. We are exposed to literally tens of thousands of chemicals on a daily basis that humans have never been exposed to before.”

Aromatherapy is thought of as both an art and a science.

It is the use of aromatic plant oils, including essential oils, for psychological and physical wellbeing.

Aromatherapists blend therapeutic essential oils especially for each person and suggest methods of use such as topical application, massage, inhalation or water immersion and ingestion to stimulate the desired responses.

The different aromas and the chemical constituents of the oils can produce different emotional and physiological reactions.

Aromatherapy FAQ’s

What are the benefits of Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy can help support literally your whole body and wellness.

• support for your immune system

• balance your moods

• balance your hormones

• help with detoxification

• deeper and better sleep

• happy muscles and joints

• digestive support

• gentle enough for babies

• relaxation

and so much more!!!

What are the application methods?

There are several application methods for Aromatherapy.

• topical application

• inhalation (direct, steam, vaporiser or diffuser)

• ingestion

Topical application can be neat or diluted with vegetable oils, in massage or at home. This application method has been mainly used by British aromatherapy.

The German model of aromatherapy leans more towards inhalation, either through steam or a diffuser, in saunas, etc.

French aromatherapy also includes ingestions of essential oils - as this is the most potent and medicinal delivery of taking any medicine, a session with a trained aromatherapist is recommended for safety reasons. However, the food industry and pharmaceutical industry use essential oils very frequently and we are ingesting them in much larger scale then we are aware of already. This doesn’t mean we should not be thoughtful and safe about this method of delivery, as essential oils are very concentrated and powerful.

The benefits of diffusing

Cold water diffusers are essential for any family that wants to promote a healthy and relaxed home environment.

“Burning” your oils is outdated as it changes the molecular structure and therapeutic action of your essential oils, as well as not being very efficient in actually dispersing the tiny molecules in your environment.

The Benefits of cold-water diffusing are:

• supports a more restful sleep

• safer alternative to candles

• helps elevate moods

• promotes healthy air quality

• helps force dust to the floor

• better daytime focus

• promotes better energy and provides an uplifting spa environment

Safety first

Essential Oils are considered to be very safe if used appropriately.

When you are starting in your aromatic journey, first off, always read the label of your oil before you use it, and get informed which quality it is (you have hopefully done this before purchasing). Some oils are considered ‘hot’, which means they will feel like they are burning when applied, and therefore need to be diluted.

More sensitive areas of your body, like your face, genital area or inside of your arms will react more strongly and therefore it is sensible to always dilute with a carrier oil before application. A carrier oil is any fatty oil like olive, coconut, grapeseed, almond oil etc.

Keep essential oils away from your eyes and ears. If you ever experience a reaction, make sure to apply more vegetable oil, wiping the area down with a towel or tissue, then applying more vegetable oil if needed and repeat until the sensation has passed.

Reduce your toxic load

Essential Oils can also be used to replace your skin care, your cleaning products and your wellness cabinet.

Essential oils can be very effectively used for hydrating, moisturising and clearing your skin without the harmful chemicals in regular skincare. The same applies for your cleaning products! We absorb everything we apply to our skin into our body and endocrine disruption, lung problems, reproductive issues, cancer and other health problems may follow further down the track. This is now mainstream science but companies still sell their products without even having to disclose whats inside them- so get informed and vote with your wallets!

Simply replace your toxic items with beautiful and powerful extracts from nature.

Why Essential Oil purity matters

Just because an Essential Oil is labelled '100% pure' does not mean it actually is.

Furthermore, even if you are lucky enough to find a really pure essential oil on the market, then this still does not mean that it will be therapeutic, potent, authentic and effective. Only a company who starts with the best quality seeds, to the most sustainable farming practices, to the best distilleries, scientists and testing equipment can guarantee that all molecules needed within in an oil are present and therefore therapeutic action is more potent.
