How is Gyrotonic different?
Instead of attempting to create stabilization by fixing or holding the body in a particular position, the Gyrotonic® Expansion System encourages the mover to find a balance between reaching, or lengthening outward (extending or expanding), and pulling inward toward the body's core (tensing, or retracting).
Some of the benefits of a regular Gyrotonic practice include a healthier, more supple spine, increased range of motion, greater joint stability, improved agility and athletic performance, and a deep internal strength. Experienced Gyrotonic trainers offer personalized sessions that are adapted to fit the needs of all ages, and abilities, from elderly patients recovering from injury, to highly skilled professional athletes.
Aline McCarthy discovered the GYROTONIC® Method for herself, when she was suffering from chronic lower back pain due to ligament tears and a scoliosis and has found it to be an invaluable healing and rehab tool for back pain and many other conditions.
Aline instantly understood and felt in her own body, how this method addresses the connective tissue (fascia) that she has specialised on and is so passionate about in her manual therapy work. The power of combining manual fascia work with movement and drawing from her large skillset, she knew immediately how much better she would be able to help other people in pain. As a result of becoming a Gyrotonic teacher, she now achieves much more powerful and longer lasting results with her clients.
As Aline specialises on rehabilitation and pain reduction, she currently only offers private classes.
