WHAT IS AN ESSENTIAL OIL?
An essential oil is a natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic odour of the plant or another source from which it is extracted.
They are found in leaves, barks, stems and leaves and other parts of plants and which possess the properties of each particular plant. Young Living essential oils are extracted through careful steam distillation, resin tapping, and cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful than the botanicals from which they come.
These are several powerful reasons to consider why essential oils should be part of your daily wellness regime:
Essential oils are nutrient-dense
Their very function is to carry nutrients into the cells of plants. So essential oils have the same role in plants as blood does in the human body; to carry nutrients into cells. So how nutrient dense are essential oils? According to the Dr Mat Lalonde scale of nutrient-density, unirradiated herbs and spices are the second most nutrient dense foods on the planet.
A pure unadulterated therapeutic-grade essential oil is said to be 100 to 10,000 times more potent or nutrient-dense than the plant from which it came. That’s what I call nutrient-density in a bottle!Essential oils are detoxifying
Pure therapeutic-grade essential oils are highly oxygenating. In fact pure essential oils are scientifically documented to carry the highest level of oxygenating molecules of any substance known to man! The oxygen molecules they contain push chemicals out of our cells. Are we all overloaded with chemicals in our daily environment? Yes, we are, and we cant control all of them. So essential oils can help you detoxify and cleanse your body on a cellular level.Exercise, meditation and essential oils all affect a similar or same area in your brain
The hippocampus, and amygdala (part of the limbic system of the brain). All of these three things have an immediate effect on your brain- which is super important for everything else in your body, but particularly important to change moods, change the brain’s perception of pain, regulate hormones, and potentially slow down the ageing process.
If you know it or not, you are probably already using essential oils in your personal care products and household products! Unless your products are scented with chemical, artificial fragrance (which are hormone disruptors!!! Ditch that immediately).
Your products smell nice due to essential oils, and cosmetic companies use their amazing skin properties to enhance their creams, lotions, serums, etc. In fact, the food industry buys and uses more than 50% of all essential oils on the market, so you are probably already consuming them on a regular basis (but we don’t know at which quality!).
Another area where essential oils can be used is for your household items, cleaning! Oils are naturally antibacterial, and can be safely used to clean anything in your house- without the toxic chemicals that have such a negative impact on your health, your family's health and the planet's ecosystem.
